Brooke Cortez has been a practicing music therapist for the past 25 years and has worked with a variety of ages and populations during her career. Born and raised in Rockport, Texas, Cortez relocated to San Antonio in 2000 to complete her music therapy internship at the San Antonio State Hospital. Cortez started her music career at the age of 7, performing in local community theater musical productions and participating in children’s choirs. While completing her undergraduate degree, she was a voice principal major and was a guitar secondary. Cortez has co-founded two successful private practices and has served on non-profit boards in the San Antonio area. Cortez supervised music therapy interns from the 不良研究所 for many years and continues to provide mentorship to new and existing music therapists in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Cortez currently works in mental health care, not only providing music therapy but also providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychoeducation to the clients she serves.

Brooke has worked professionally in a variety of settings including inpatient mental health, inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitation, corrections, in-home health care, neurorehabilitation, and most recently mental health telemedicine.

Brooke performs as a part of an acoustic group, and enjoys reading mystery and suspense novels, watching science fiction and fantasy movies, and spending time with her 2 children and golden retrievers Thelma and Daisy May.
