Dr. Marta Sylvia del Río is an Associate Professor of Computer Information Systems at the 不良研究所, with thirty-six years of academic and professional experience. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain, where her research focused on touch, eye, body and 3D mid-air gesture analysis for individuals with Down syndrome. She also holds an M.Sc. in Computer Systems and a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering, both from Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Her career includes extensive experience in teaching, research and academic leadership. From 2004 to 2011, she served as Director of Graduate Studies in Design and Engineering at Universidad de Monterrey. She has held multiple international visiting professorships in Mexico, the United States, Colombia, and Peru. Currently, she teaches Ethics and Accessibility in the master’s program in Digital Experience Creation (UX) at ICESI University in Colombia. Her research and publications focus on user experience and user-centered design, with a strong emphasis on accessibility issues.

In addition to her academic work, Dr. del Río has significant industry experience. She has worked as a consultant with Usaria, contributing to projects for companies such as Marriott, Google, Yahoo, Ford, Banxico and Bancolombia. She also served as the Regional Director for Latin America for UXPA (User Experience Professionals Association) from 2016 to 2021.

Dr. del Río has been actively involved in accreditation processes for undergraduate Computer Science and Engineering programs with organizations such as ABET and CACEI. Widely recognized for her teaching excellence, she has received multiple awards, including the Premio Promagistro Garza Sada in 2022, an honor awarded annually to the university’s top professor.

Her scholarly output includes peer-reviewed journal articles, international conference papers, and applied research projects. She is also the author and co-author of several books and book chapters. Most recently, she co-edited a publication on Latin American UX case studies, featuring contributions from 41 authors across 19 countries.
