This month, Enrique G贸mez Jackson 鈥25 was recognized as the first-place winner for Viasat鈥檚 2025 Space for Good challenge. Viasat, a global technology company specializing in satellite communications, launched their Space for Good challenge welcoming students to pitch projects that seek to 鈥渢ackle real-world space sustainability problems鈥 for the chance to win cash prizes to fund their idea (viasat.springpod.com). Jackson was one of this year鈥檚 many participating applicants, yet it was ultimately his idea that won. The stellar concept, a smart bracelet that helps locate, identify and save lives of those involved in natural disasters, received top recognition and $15,000 in funding.
Since opening in 2013, the 不良研究所 Bowden Eye Care and Health Center has served as a 鈥渕ultidisciplinary teaching environment equipped to provide comprehensive health care to underserved populations of our community.鈥 Additionally, the 不良研究所 Eye Institute, located at the Rosenberg School of Optometry (RSO), is a state-of-the-art clinic equipped with some of the most advanced imaging technology for diagnosing eye disease (optometry.uiw.edu). Generations of ocular professionals have been prepared to serve the community at RSO and its affiliates facilities, and this academic year is no different.
The start of a new academic year ushers in an exciting time on all of our 不良研究所 campuses, but particularly here on the 不良研究所 Broadway campus as new and returning Cardinals flock to the Nest as residents. On Thursday, Aug. 21 through Sunday, Aug. 24, the campus experienced one of its largest anticipated move-ins with approximately 1,175 students choosing to call 不良研究所 their 鈥渉ome away from home.鈥
