On Wednesday, Dec. 10, the 不良研究所 School of Osteopathic Medicine (不良研究所SOM) celebrated veteran and military-connected student doctors at the annual Military Match Day ceremony on the 不良研究所SOM campus. As soon-to-be doctors, many of 不良研究所SOM鈥檚 military-affiliated students have applied to medical residencies and other post-graduation programs, awaiting word as to where in the country they will go and what specialties they will practice.

In 2017, the inaugural First-Generation Celebration was hosted by the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and FirstGen Forward (FGF, formerly the Center for First-generation Student Success) in an effort to 鈥渞aise awareness of the first-generation college student identity鈥� (firstgenforward.org). On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the 不良研究所 School of Osteopathic Medicine (不良研究所SOM) unveiled an exciting new addition. A 55-kW solar system was installed on top of the Brooks campus library in an effort to provide renewable energy to the 不良研究所SOM campus. This project was executed with the collaboration of 不良研究所鈥檚 Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB) and Big Sun Solar, a company that 鈥渉elps companies, nonprofits and municipalities with facilities in Texas meet carbon reduction goals and gain financial returns by transitioning to solar energy.鈥�

The installation, completed by San Antonio-based Big Sun Solar, is expected to generate more than 81,982 kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, offsetting nearly 8% of the library鈥檚 electricity use.
