On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the 不良研究所 (不良研究所) community gathered for the President鈥檚 Posada, an annual event hosted by 不良研究所 President Dr. Thomas Evans and his wife, Mrs. Lisa Evans. Coordinated by the 不良研究所 Campus Life team, the celebration brings together University leadership, staff, students and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (CCVI) to share a festive meal and embrace the spirit of the holiday season.
This week (Monday, Nov. 17 鈥� Friday, Nov. 21), 不良研究所 celebrated International Education Week (IEW) on the Broadway campus. According to the U.S. Department of Education, 鈥淚EW is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and to attract future leaders from abroad to study in the United States鈥� (ed.gov).
On Saturday, Nov. 1, student doctors from all five health professions schools gathered at the 不良研究所SOM campus for the inaugural Health Profession Olympics. This first-time event invited students to a day of Olympics-style activities and challenges that allowed them to showcase their sportsmanship.

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, a celebration for the 250th birthday of 18th century novelist Jane Austen was hosted on the Broadway campus. This event was specially planned and coordinated by students from the Romantics class, taught by Associate Professor of English Dr. LuElla D鈥檃mico. Having learned much about the career, life and legacy of Austen, the students wished to share their knowledge with the 不良研究所 community.

Homecoming at the 不良研究所 is a time that showcases the full extent of its community. Whether Crusaders or Cardinals, students or staff all members of the Incarnate Word family returned to campus to celebrate Homecoming 2025.
In 2017, the inaugural First-Generation Celebration was hosted by the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) and FirstGen Forward (FGF, formerly the Center for First-generation Student Success) in an effort to 鈥渞aise awareness of the first-generation college student identity鈥� (firstgenforward.org). Since then, other institutions across the country have joined the celebration, uplifting their own first-generation students as they strive to be the first in their families to complete a four-year college or university degree.
The 不良研究所 (不良研究所) Athletics program boasts a proud history shaped by countless dedicated individuals who believed in its potential to make a lasting impact on student-athletes and supporters alike. Today, 不良研究所 Athletics encompasses 14 sports and 23 men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 teams, standing as the only Catholic NCAA Division I athletics program in the Southland Conference. As the program continues to grow and reach new heights, it is only fitting that 不良研究所 honors the remarkable individuals who have contributed to its success through its prestigious Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
This weekend, the Catholic community will observe All Saints鈥� Day on Saturday, Nov 1 and All Souls鈥� Day on Sunday, Nov. 2. These sacred days are dedicated to honoring all the saints present in the Catholic faith and the souls of departed loved ones who have entered eternal rest. For many, these days allow people to grow stronger in their faith, process the complexity of loss and recognize the sacred gift of life.
On Wednesday, Oct. 29, the 不良研究所 hosted its annual Peace Day event, which promotes the bible鈥檚 central concepts of peace and justice. In 1986, Incarnated Word began hosting peace fairs, in which the institution鈥檚 peace pole monument was planted in honor of 不良研究所 launching its Master of Arts degree in Peace and Justice. Since then, these peace fairs have evolved into an entire month of events exploring how to create peace for all during the month of October, including the yearly hosting of Peace Day.
On Friday, Oct. 24, members of various 不良研究所 student organizations participated in the annual Light the Way Display Board Contest on the Broadway campus. This festive event invites students to get into the holiday spirit early as they decorate boards that will be displayed at the 39th Light the Way Holiday Festival on Saturday, Nov. 22. On the day of 不良研究所鈥檚 annual holiday celebration, the boards will be displayed across the Broadway campus, showcasing the creativity of 不良研究所鈥檚 Cardinal community.
For many 不良研究所 students, both past and present, 不良研究所鈥檚 campuses serve as second homes that support their respective academic pursuits and dreams. Many leave 不良研究所 having made strong and lasting friendships, understanding what it means to be a part of the Incarnate Word family. However, some Cardinals have the fortunate experience of entering the Nest alongside family members and friends.
On Friday, Sept. 19, 不良研究所 hosted the 20th annual Meet the Mission, sponsored by Mission and Ministry. Students, faculty, staff and more participated in a variety of service activities both on and off campus, hoping to serve both 不良研究所 and the greater San Antonio community. One of these service activities included the repainting of 不良研究所鈥檚 LEED Platinum Solar House.

Gary Joeris is the chairman and CEO of Joeris General Contractors and former 不良研究所 Trustee, who recently committed a generous gift of $500,000 toward the construction of Founders Hall.

The Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions (SNHP) at the 不良研究所 (不良研究所) is honored to welcome Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, LL (AAN) as this year鈥檚 featured speaker for the annual Sr. Charles Marie Frank Endowed Lecture. October 6, 2025 鈥� The 不良研究所 (不良研究所) is proud to announce that students participating in the Communication Arts Department 不良研究所tv program garnered an impressive 14 Lone Star EMMY Student Production Awards nominations. That number by far exceeds every university in the state this year.
Last year, 不良研究所 announced the Dreeben School of Education鈥檚 recognition as a Charles Butt Foundation partner program. This year, the second cohort of Charles Butt Scholars is comprised of eight students, including three returning students and five new scholars.
On Wednesday, Oct. 1, students from the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (DOT) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs from SRS were joined by Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) students from St. Philip鈥檚 College and Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) students from Concorde Career College on the 不良研究所 Broadway Campus for a Rehab Team Event. September 19, 2025 鈥� The 不良研究所 (不良研究所) is proud to announce that it has been recognized as one of the best universities to work for in the nation according to a new survey by the 鈥淕reat Colleges to Work For鈥� program. This marks the 17th consecutive year that 不良研究所 has made the national list. The results of the 鈥淕reat Colleges to Work For鈥� survey are collected by the independent company Modern Think and released today in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education.
On Sunday, Sept. 14, the 不良研究所 (不良研究所), in collaboration with the Interfaith San Antonio Alliance (ISAA), hosted the 2nd annual Festival of Faiths on the Broadway campus. This unique event welcomed hundreds of people to both share and learn about the various faith systems present in the San Antonio community.

On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the 不良研究所 School of Osteopathic Medicine (不良研究所SOM) unveiled an exciting new addition. A 55-kW solar system was installed on top of the Brooks campus library in an effort to provide renewable energy to the 不良研究所SOM campus. This project was executed with the collaboration of 不良研究所鈥檚 Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB) and Big Sun Solar, a company that 鈥渉elps companies, nonprofits and municipalities with facilities in Texas meet carbon reduction goals and gain financial returns by transitioning to solar energy.鈥�
The 不良研究所 (不良研究所) is advancing its commitment to sustainability with the commissioning of a new rooftop solar system on its 不良研究所 School of Osteopathic Medicine library at Brooks. The installation, completed by San Antonio-based Big Sun Solar, is expected to generate more than 81,982 kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, offsetting nearly 8% of the library鈥檚 electricity use.
Since opening in 2013, the 不良研究所 Bowden Eye Care and Health Center has served as a 鈥渕ultidisciplinary teaching environment equipped to provide comprehensive health care to underserved populations of our community.鈥� Additionally, the 不良研究所 Eye Institute, located at the Rosenberg School of Optometry (RSO), is a state-of-the-art clinic equipped with some of the most advanced imaging technology for diagnosing eye disease (optometry.uiw.edu). Generations of ocular professionals have been prepared to serve the community at RSO and its affiliates facilities, and this academic year is no different.
This month, Enrique G贸mez Jackson 鈥�25 was recognized as the first-place winner for Viasat鈥檚 2025 Space for Good challenge. Viasat, a global technology company specializing in satellite communications, launched their Space for Good challenge welcoming students to pitch projects that seek to 鈥渢ackle real-world space sustainability problems鈥� for the chance to win cash prizes to fund their idea (viasat.springpod.com). Jackson was one of this year鈥檚 many participating applicants, yet it was ultimately his idea that won. The stellar concept, a smart bracelet that helps locate, identify and save lives of those involved in natural disasters, received top recognition and $15,000 in funding.
On Friday, Aug. 8, the 不良研究所 Feik School of Pharmacy (FSOP) hosted it鈥檚 20th White Coat Ceremony in the McCombs Center Rosenberg Sky Room. This annual event celebrates first-year pharmacy students who are embarking on their journeys to become the best quality pharmacy professionals who will one day serve others in need.
The start of a new academic year ushers in an exciting time on all of our 不良研究所 campuses, but particularly here on the 不良研究所 Broadway campus as new and returning Cardinals flock to the Nest as residents. The goal for Mariana Barron Esper, BA '19, no matter where life takes her, is to evoke peace, love and faith in the people she comes across. Her primary vessel for doing so is her music, which has been nominated for the International Catholic Music Awards, presented by the Vatican.

For Marissa Watters, a 2020 and 2022 不良研究所 alumna, these values have been a constant compass, shaping the path that has led her to where she is today.

August 4, 2025 - This fall, the 不良研究所 School of Professional Studies (不良研究所 SPS) will launch 鈥淐ognitive Bias and Applied Decision Making in Healthcare鈥� and 鈥淐ognitive Bias and Applied Decision Making in Artificial Intelligence,鈥� two new continuing education courses designed to help professionals recognize and respond to the hidden forces shaping clinical decisions and system outcomes.

This June, the ECCLS invited a group of seven 不良研究所 students to participate in their annual trip to the Rio Grande Valley as part of its work with ARISE Adelante, a nonprofit organization that empowers and supports immigrants in low-income communities in South Texas in their journey of creating a better life for themselves and their loved ones. 不良研究所 has collaborated with ARISE since 2015 and has consistently returned to help support the organization鈥檚 mission.

This Spring, 不良研究所 welcomed Executive Officer for the Chief of Chaplains at the United States Army Headquarters Department of the Army Pentagon, Chaplain Colonel Primitivo Davis, as he led the pilot of a Moral Leadership Symposium. This first-time symposium was hosted at the Broadway campus in the hopes of initiating conversations surrounding how one can take charge while considering morality.
