A 55-kW solar system was installed on top of the Brooks campus library in an effort to provide renewable energy to the 不良研究所SOM campus. This project was executed with the collaboration of 不良研究所鈥檚 Sustainability Advisory Board (SAB) and Big Sun Solar, a company that 鈥渉elps companies, nonprofits and municipalities with facilities in Texas meet carbon reduction goals and gain financial returns by transitioning to solar energy.鈥�
The 不良研究所 (不良研究所) is advancing its commitment to sustainability with the commissioning of a new rooftop solar system on its 不良研究所 School of Osteopathic Medicine library at Brooks. The installation, completed by San Antonio-based Big Sun Solar, is expected to generate more than 81,982 kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually, offsetting nearly 8% of the library鈥檚 electricity use.

This month, Enrique G贸mez Jackson 鈥�25 was recognized as the first-place winner for Viasat鈥檚 2025 Space for Good challenge. Viasat, a global technology company specializing in satellite communications, launched their Space for Good challenge welcoming students to pitch projects that seek to 鈥渢ackle real-world space sustainability problems鈥� for the chance to win cash prizes to fund their idea (viasat.springpod.com). Jackson was one of this year鈥檚 many participating applicants, yet it was ultimately his idea that won. The stellar concept, a smart bracelet that helps locate, identify and save lives of those involved in natural disasters, received top recognition and $15,000 in funding.

The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (CCVI), the founding congregation of the 不良研究所, have committed themselves to incarnating God鈥檚 saving and healing presence in the world. Since their establishment in 1866, the efforts of their ministries in health, education and social justice have spread across the nation and around the globe (amormeus.org).
On Tuesday, March 18, 不良研究所 had the privilege of welcoming San Antonio artists Kathy and Lionel Sosa to the Broadway Campus to discuss their recently released documentary Al Otro Lado del Espejo, which explores the significance of San Antonio's missions, and the relationship shared between San Antonio and the city of Quer茅taro, Mexico.
The 不良研究所 (不良研究所) is proud to announce that Dr. Yutaka Maki, an associate professor in the Rosenberg School of Optometry, was honored as the Educator of the Year by the Texas Optometric Association. The award was announced during the 125th Texas Optometric Association Annual Summit held in Austin in February.
On Thursday, Feb. 27, 不良研究所 hosted its third annual African and Afro-Caribbean Fashion Show in the Student Engagement Center ballroom. 不良研究所鈥檚 International Student and Scholar Services, Ettling Center for Civic Leadership and Sustainability and the African Student Organization (ASO) hosted this yearly event in celebration of Black History Month. Attendees were welcomed to this event to experience fashion, music and art from the African continent and African Caribbean cultures.
On Friday, Feb. 28, the 不良研究所 School of Media and Design had much to celebrate as 23 of its Graphic Design students were recognized with awards and scholarships at the 2024 American Advertising Awards, hosted by AAF San Antonio. 鈥淭he American Advertising Awards honor innovation, excellence and the bold ideas that shape our city鈥檚 advertising landscape. This year鈥檚 theme, Keep It SA, pays tribute to the vibrant culture and creative spirit that make San Antonio truly one of a kind鈥� (adfedsa.org).
On Thursday, March 7, the 不良研究所 Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions (SNHP) hosted its annual Sr. Margaret Mary (Lucilla) Lecture in the McCombs Center Rosenberg Sky Room. This yearly event welcomes educators and students from the Nursing program to present their original research during poster presentations and to listen to a distinguished Nursing guest speaker.
On Friday, Feb. 28, 不良研究所 President Dr. Thomas M. Evans swore in John B. Catts III as 不良研究所PD's Chief of Police. The 不良研究所 Police Department has served the 不良研究所 Community for nearly 32 years.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, 不良研究所 hosted the annual Red Dress Fashion Show. Since 2006, garments designed by Fashion students have been showcased at this vibrant event. In addition to 不良研究所 and San Antonio community members getting to witness the talents of the University鈥檚 students, they also got the opportunity to learn about women鈥檚 heart health.
On Thursday, Feb. 13, 不良研究所 President Dr. Thomas M. Evans and Mrs. Lisa Evans unveiled the Evans Family Faculty Lounge in the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Library on the Broadway campus. The lounge, which was funded by Dr. and Mrs. Evans, was dedicated to the 不良研究所 faculty in honor of their commitment to the University鈥檚 students, including their son.

On Monday, Feb. 17, students and faculty gathered in the SEC Ballroom to listen to a lecture given by guest speaker Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish. Abuelaish is an intentionally recognized human rights advocate whose continued work has led him to be a five-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee and a recipient of various humanitarian awards.
On Sunday, Feb. 9, Alumni Relations and Mission and Ministry celebrated the couples whose love originated at the University with the annual Cardinal Couples Mass in Our Lady鈥檚 Chapel. The lovebirds were welcomed back to the Nest to prayerfully rejoice in their continued love for their partners and for the University that brought them together.
On Monday, Feb. 10, the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) proudly hosted 不良研究所鈥檚 annual Bernadette O鈥機onner Lecture on the Catholic Intellectual Tradition (CIT). CIT is broadly understood as the dynamic and mutually illuminating conversation between the Catholic faith and human culture. The lecture, which was originally hosted in 2017, was named in honor of Bernadette O鈥機onner, former CHASS dean who is known for her extensive knowledge of CIT.
In February 1950, the first ever Stock Show and Rodeo was hosted in San Antonio, Texas. This now annual event, which 鈥渆mphasizes agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas鈥� has become a staple of the city鈥檚 culture (SARodeo.com). 不良研究所 students and faculty hosted several events to ring in the rodeo season, bringing San Antonio culture right to campus.
The 不良研究所 (不良研究所) is honored to announce that Ben Rueger has been named the University鈥檚 new Chief Information Officer and Vice President of Innovation and Technology. Rueger comes to 不良研究所 from the Purdue University system.

This week, the University kicked off its annual celebration of Black History Month. On Monday, Feb. 3, members of the community gathered both in person and virtually to participate in a roundtable discussion that explored 鈥淭he Role of Black American Gospel & Spiritual Music Traditions: Inspirational Adult Education Pedagogy.鈥� The event examined the historical and contemporary role that Negro Spirituals, Black Church Music and Contemporary Gospel have played as instruments for adult education and revolutionary spiritual development among adults.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, 不良研究所 will host its annual Red Dress Fashion Show at 11 a.m. in the Student Engagement Center Ballroom. This time-honored tradition has been a staple event of the University鈥檚 Fashion program since 2006 with the goal of raising awareness about women鈥檚 heart health, as the signs of health attacks in women are notably different from signs exhibited by men.
